So I have been playing DOD not DOD source and every time there is an explosion in the game or a lot of people around me shooting I lag really really bad.

When none of the above things are going on I can play just fine.

What kind of information would I need to give you, to help me out here.. I have been searching and trying to do everything I can to fix this problem without spending money and I am out of options.

I have 2020 MB of ram

Genuine Windows Vista home basic

Intel Celeron M Processor 530 @ 1.72 GHz

Hell BigBubar,
Before you start the game, make sure you dont have any unnecessary programs running in the background, these will use up system resource's, go to the task manager and turn off anything you dont use to play the game, dont worry about turning off anything vital, a simple reboot will fix it, experiment with what you need and what you dont need.

Also try a system defrag, you would be surprised at the effect this will have.

A cheap and effective way to give your system a boost. Post your results and good luck.

can you turn down the detail of the graphics?

or turn off some of the graphics you don't really need in the game.

maybe on a lower setting it wont lag as bad and it would be more tolerable

you have to it within the game, there should be a graphics setting some where in the game, change the detail level down and see if that helps
