| Vista Home Premium 32bit | World of Warcraft in Vista--Crossposted cause I didn't see this forum at first Hello, I have my WoW installed on a separate partition, b/c I thought this would speed it up (something about the computer not having to look through ALL of its memory during game play). However, whenever my computer does ANYTHING else, I experience a 5-10 second lag in game play. I have a 2 Ghz dual processor and over 200 gigs of space on my main drive (the WoW drive has 15/30 gigs being used right now). Is the problem being caused by WoW being on a separate partition? if so, would removing that partition fix the problem? And can I do that without reinstalling WoW (WoW regularly updates with patches downloaded from the internet, which would take several hours to redownload and install). Thanks! |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: World of Warcraft in Vista--Crossposted cause I didn't see this forum at first I don't think this is typical lag. I have good fps and low lat, it's just a random...stall. Like a 5-10 second pause. Or is that typical? What I've seen in the past (or especially in Dalaran) is really low fps, which of course makes everything appear jerky. |

Thanks! yes most likely why did you think installing it a seperate partition would speed it up? anyhoo if you use windows to delete the partition then yes you'll loose the game however some partitioning software can let you do it and keep stuff that was stored on that partition , that said all the files and folders in that game are assigned the drive letter for that partition , deleting the partition and keeping the game will most likely lead to the game not running properly anyway if at all. you can always download a free trial of some partitioning software if you want to give it a try |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: World of Warcraft in Vista--Crossposted cause I didn't see this forum at first My dad, who does computer networking, said that's a cool thing to do in gaming to make your games run faster. Apparently not so much. ![]() Thanks for the advice--I'm thinking I'll need to go ahead and delete the partition, extend my main hard drive partition into it, and reinstall WoW on the main hard drive. Which I probably should have done to begin with. |
