Mirror's edge random crashes

¿Does anyone know how to fix this? Every time I play I get random crashes. Some times I get to play 1 mininute, sometimes 15, but it will always crash to desktop. I've already tried checking the boxes "run in compatibility mode for Xp SP2 (i have to do this with half of the games I play ), , run as administrator, and the other 3 boxes". Still crashes. I already installed patch 1.01 and set the Physix off. I tried lowering the AA and disabling Vertical Sync. Still crashes:mad:

How can I fix this F/@%$ crashes???

By the way:

GPU: Nvidia 8800 GTS GPU driver: 186.18 (lastest)

Proccesor: AMD Quad-core Phenom X4

OS: Windows Vista x64 SP2

Thanks for the quick reply. As I mentioned, yes, it does have a patch (1.01), which I already installed.

Regarding the rest of the games, in general I can solve their issues running them as an administrator and/or running them on XP SP2 compatibility mode. But none of these worked this time

im trying to asertain if its a H/W issues, i.e heat related..??, if its a general problem happening on most games heat could be the problem.

do you monitor card temps..??

Well this time the crash took it's time, luckily. That gave me time to monitor the temps. Here I'm attaching the Eventlog with the temps.

well the card hits 73c at one point, thats not a dangerously high temp, ive seen higher....;)

has this game always crashed since installation..??

it could be an unstable video driver or card OC, im guessing its not OCed so....you could try the 186.24 drivers see if that stops the crashing.....

Yeap, it has been cracking my head since first played. And no, my GPU isn't OCed. Regarding the drivers, the lastest version is 186.18 (just checked with Nvidia), which, as I mentioned before, is the version I have.

By the way, according to all the error reports, the fault module is nvd3dum.dll and the error code: c0000005

EDIT: Ok, I found out there actually is a 186.24 version going around, but it's a LEAKED BETA, and I really don't feel like experimenting right now.

Hello dagger1,
nvd3dum.dll points to the Nvidia driver, The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation".
This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, (SYSTEM OR GRAPHICS), an incorrect/corrupt device driver, or poorly written/updated software.
I have seen this a lot lately and as yet there is no definitive fix for it, what works on one machine wont work on another, the 8800 series seem to be more prone to it, i had two BFG 8800 ultra's in SLI, got so fed up with it i rebuilt my system and went to ATI, a bit extreme i know, anyway, i would start with the driver and then move on to the memory, you could try turning off DEP, some have had good results with that.
Keep us posted and good luck.

Well, funny you mentioned it since I was currently trying with DEP off, but still, no luck.
I'll try now reinstalling the 186.18 drivers. Mean while, how could I know if the problem lies on the memmory?

EDIT: just reinstalled deivers, but still the same problems (I got sure to to desinstall the drivers before installing it back)

The only way is to remove the ram and try one stick at a time, of course it could be the video ram, the only thing there is to try another card.

Well, i let it run for 2 hours, and found no errors. (The Mem test, I mean)
I have just tried setting multisampling to 0, but that didn't help either

Oh! I thought you meant that it would be better to run it at night, not the whole night!:p
Anyway, if I had an error in my memmory sticks, wouldn't I notice it in other games? I'll let it test again this night, but I really don't think that's the problem...

There is an update patch for Nvidia's PhysX,

nVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.09.0010
nVIDIA have released an updated PhysX system software (v9.09.0010). Interestingly, in release notes for this version it says “Resolves occasional system crashes when PhysX is enabled on some systems when running on EA’s Mirrors Edge.”.

FILEnetworks Blog: nVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.09.0010 Download

Some people have had good results turning PhysX off from within the game, bottom line, there is no single fix for this, what works on one machine wont work on another, you can try the PhysX update, but i would try turning it off in the game first, like i said there is no single fix for this, you could well have to wait for a patch to fix this, there are a lot of unhappy players out there at the moment.

Ok, the only other thing i can think of that will work most of the time is a No Cd patch, i would try that, if it doe's not work then you may have to wait for a patch, as a lot of people are having the same problem.
Follow the link and use the top one as you have patched the game already.
