Trouble with Harry Potter 2

Hello, I'm having trouble installing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in my PC. I play Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone normally. But with CoS I can't even install it. The cd is risked, but so is SS and there's no sign of problem while playing it.

So, when I try to install, the Installshield Wizard goes full 100% and the error message appear (my game is portuguese so I'll try to translate to english): Inner Fail - Number of Error: 0x80040707 Description: (there's nothing).

I click OK and another error window appears: The needed installation file is missing or corrupted. (setup.cfg).

And that's it, I can't install the game, I've always played this game and now I can't. And yes, my game is ORIGINAL.

I EXPLORE the cd, and that's what I get

I go to the setup folder and that's what I get

I click on the rar files and try to open, and I get an error messenge telling me that the file has a unknown format or is impaired...

Help...

Re: Trouble with Harry Potter 2

Hello Boni,
Try this and see how it goes, explore the DVD and on the setup file, right click, and go to properties, open the compatibility tab and choose run as administrator, apply and run setup.
Also you could try turning off your UAC (user account) in the control panel. (turn back on after install).
Good luck and please post your results, thanks.

Re: Trouble with Harry Potter 2

Hello, skunksmash and stoney-nutz, thanks for the tips, but none of of them worked, I still get the same error messenges...

About the runs as admin tip, the option couldn't be marked, but I clicked with the right button of the mouse on the setup, and the option appear aside the picture of a shield. I deactivated the UAC, and ran as admin with that option I got the same.

It's strange, I can play the previous game normally.

Re: Trouble with Harry Potter 2

Try this,

1. Create a new folder on desktop.
2. copy all files from DVD to new folder.
3. Install from there as administrator.

Good luck and post your results, thanks.

Re: Trouble with Harry Potter 2

No luck, mate. I guess the cd somehow is too damaged to run the InstallWizard. I think I'll download this game, and test to see if I get the same problem. Thanks, anyway.

Re: Trouble with Harry Potter 2

Use this to copy all your files from the CD to the new folder on desktop.
It may take a while, may even be overnight but it should copy them.
If this cant do it then the CD is really screwed,

Roadkil.Net

Give it a go and post your results, thanks.

Re: Trouble with Harry Potter 2

Now, the Sorcerer's Stone CD shows the same thing...
I went to the control panel, and to the Uninstall/Change/Repair, and there is a file there called Harry Potter TM, I tried to Uninstall, but I get the same goddamn messenge when I try to Install it...

I will try your program, thanks again.

EDIT: Again, not worked. The CD is not that screwed, it may be some system trouble...

That's it, now I can't play or uninstall both of games, this is all crazy...
