Crysis System Requirements

Since I'm not what would be classified as a 'hard-core gamer' I just want to clear something up. I keep seeing this PC game called Crysis and wonder if my system has the minimum requirements. The Crysis requirements are the following for Vista:

OS - Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor - 3.2 GHz or faster (Vista)
Memory - 1.5 GB RAM (Vista)
Video Card -256 MB
Hard Drive - 12GB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible

My system has the following:
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz
ATI Radeon HD 3600
8GB RAM
1TB HD
(it is Vista 64-Bit)

The thing I'm questioning is the 3.2GHz vs my 2.66GHz. Since I have a quad CPU, do I have more than enough processor speed even if it is lower than the 3.2? Or, is Crysis basing this on a quad core CPU?

Thanks for any help.

i ran crysis on my 2.4 gig quad core fine before i overclocked it , crysis is VERY gpu limited , if you have a low end gpu (as you do , no offence) you'll struggle to run crysis on anything but low graphics ,with that little vram your card will struggle to hold the textures , it'll stutter if you try and set it all too high

where the cpu comes in is for the advanced physics used in game (wind affecting tree movement , the ability to demolish almost every building you come across amongst many other things) this part of the engine is very dependent on a high end fast cpu but all this can be turned off in the options , your cpu however will be ok id say

Crysis brings any rig to its knees , it set the standard when it was released , but after playing the game you soon find out its all pretty graphics and very limited repetetive gameplay.

crysis needs at bare minimum 2gb of ram also.

I found the game fun, but anything to do with vehcles was just painful.

You've lost me MrNeeds...what's not powerful enough for any console? Crysis? How can a game not be powerful enough for an Xbox system? (if this is what you mean) Remember, I'm not heavily into games, I have a few, like the Halo series, CoD:MW and GTA4 but thats about it.

Crysis brought the best-est rigs to its knees, a console would not be able to get it started... I think that's what Mr. Needs wanted to say.

Sadly, part of the problems we are having with the games now a days is that they are made for the console and not really for the PC's... Crysis was the only one that made it 100% for the PC.

as asta said, i meant to say that consoles werent powerful enough for crysis. When crytek made crysis, they even said in press conferences that crysis was meant to show how good PC games could be, if the developers spent the time and money making the games, and the result was crysis, everything in the game is designed to take advantage of PC, and only the best PC's can run crysis on full detail and resolution, if you do want to test crysis on your system, then you can download the demo >>>here<<<

Is the game that good though? Would it be comparable to the Halo series or CoDMW? In terms of detail and overall looks, CoDMW was incredible according to what few games I have played.

Crysis brings any rig to its knees , it set the standard when it was released , but after playing the game you soon find out its all pretty graphics and very limited repetetive gameplay.

When I first played this game on my old rig (Pentium D 2.8ghz, 1.5GB Ram, 7600GS) Crysis not only brought brought the game to it's knees - it made it cry :D I hated the game at first.

On my current rig though, I can get an average 30-35FPS with a few trips into low 20 town with max details (1920x1200, all very high, x8AA - no vsync) and it feels like a different game. It's actually fun. Up to the alien part anyway...

Is it a great game? No. Is it a fun game? For the most part, yes. Does it have replay value? Some levels yes, some levels no.

If you had to loosely compare, gameplay wise, it's probably more comparable to HALO than COD4. Overall looks wise, Crysis is still in a league of it's own. However with some of the eye candy switched off/low, it can look down right ugly at times :(

You have to admit though, that there's something endlessly fun about hiding in a bush cloaked - waiting for a Korean to come sniffing about, uncloaking, popping off a headshot and then cloaking again ;)

oh god i played it through just cos it looks so lovely ha ha (reinstalled it when i got my GTX260) and yeah loved the cloak mode , and running around punching all the buildings down after id slaughtered everyone in the village's and throwing fuel tanks in the air and shooting them , and shooting vehicle tyres out when there heading for me and making em crash and throttling the enemy and throwing em off of a cliff............the fun is endless tbh lol just the gameplay is a bit boring after a while

Crysis is a great game, like said above, the gameplay gets dull but you can have endless fun with the cloak, or doing things like throwing refigerators through buildings, shooting branches off trees, ect.

I remember once when I was playing crysis I was sneaking up to a sniper tower, I grabbed the Korean that was up there and threw him out, in any other game, he would
have just landed on the building below and i would have picked off the village one by one, but instead he crashed through the roof, and things got a little more exciting.

Also keep in mind with the video above, that doesnt fully demonstrate crysis, as between recording it and uploading it to youtube the quality of the video suffers.

Check my specs I can run on all high but If I play for to long my graphic card overheats and crashes.
