Vista - Problem with Age of Empires 2

Hi

I am new to this forum, i just recently upgraded to Windows vista x64 and i installed my favourite game on it, it did not work.

After installing the game at end of the installation, it errored and said there was a graphics problem, this is before the game even ran, cos i tried installing it on wondows xp 32 bit and at end of install on the winxp 32 bit, it brings up the graphics autorun menu from the cd, so i presume that is a problem bringing up the autorun menu after install completes.

First of all, are your drivers up to date ?.
Go to the Nvidia site and check.

It is possible to get this running on Vista x64 but it's not easy and no guarantees, some people have got it running and some cant get it to go at all.

1. Install the game, (as administrator).
2. Carry out any updates/patch's.
3. Ensure AOE 2 .exe is running in windows xp compatibility mode and as administrator. (right click exe in game folder, click, properties, compatibility, and run as administrator).
4. Ensure you have access to the install folder. right click – security – edit – select users – check full control.
5. If you have Aero running on the desktop, turn it off.
