| Vista Home Premium 32bit | AOE2 Problem Hi all, I'm new here and I'm not that knowledgeable about computers. My problem is that I have successfully installed Age of Empires 2 on my new laptop, but I am not able to even start the game. Whenever I press play on the game menu, it says that a problem has caused the program not to work correctly, and it closes. But I'm not even sure what that problem is! I'm running on Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. I already downloaded AOE2 update v2.0. I also tried changing compatibility, and reinstalling several times, but of no use. I have also tried running it as administrator, but I still get the same message. I don't know how to fix this! Please help! |

| Vista Home Premium SP1 | Same here I am having exactly the same problem and I'm waiting for an answer. I think my version is the same as yours, and I've also tried the compatibility pack and the update, but when I start the game and go to a single-player game or a scenario, it closes on me without telling me what the issue was. |

| Vista Home Premium SP1 | I tried that. The game worked fine with the same installation disc on my Windows XP computer that just recently got retired. The problem only started when I tried to install it on the new computer with Vista. I don't even know where to start, as all the computer components are brand new. |

| Vista Home Premium x64 | DUDE SAME PROBLEM!!! BUT I HAVE IT PARTIALLY RESOLVED. Method 1: You right click on the Age of Empires shortcut and click "Run As administrator". The BAD thing is you cannot play online, BECAUSE it does not give you the option to "Run As Admin". So I am pissed at that and posted a new thread about that. Im going to down grade to Windows Xp soon. Hope that helped because it worked for me. Method 2: You right click on the Age of Empires shortcut, properties, security, edit, click your name, then click FULL CONTROL. Thats all I can help you with, hope it helps! Signed Jjocker94.
