Hi, :D I was wondering if is there a way to uninstall Windows Vista Gamer Edition? I think its a theme and there is no way to uninstall it through the uninstaller. I just can't seem to find the theme anywhere on my PC. I have a dell inspiron 530 which originally had Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 which is what I am trying to convert back to. so if anyone knws of anything, please feel free to help me A.S.A.P.

Thanks,

~David~

(P.S.) I don't want to re-install vista cause I don't want to have to re-configure my modem all over again which took me days to figure out how to setup up my Zyxel P-600 series modem so i could have Internet.

Hello david1,
Did you put the gamers version on ?.
I don't think you can remove it as it's a complete overhaul of Vista aimed at gamers, you could try a re-installation of vista over the top, but that seems to cause more problems.
I also don't think it's legal, although there seems to be some confusion, copyright infringements and the like, i know it's not supported by MS.
The only place you can get it is on P2P sites.

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

I don't get it, but then again, that is not the point so... why don't you just install another theme and be done with it?

What am I missing?

I don't think you can install another theme, it's not a theme, it's a modded Vista that you install as you would Vista.
All the theme parts are standard, and it does say you cant mod this version of Vista as it makes it unstable.
What they have done is to take a standard version of Vista, x32 or x64, and ripped the guts out of it, added all the bits you see and a lot more you don't see, and pass it off as a Vista gamers version.
MS closed a few sites that you could download it from so it went to the P2P sites.
Either way best to stay away from it as the first ones had a way of getting past the verification stage.
Basicly it's a hacked version of Vista aimed at gamers.
I would have thought there was a gap in the market for MS there.

The only way to fully get rid of this is a clean install.
When you installed this, it over wrote the copy of Vista you had installed, so your original Vista has gone for ever.
Keep what programs you want, format and install, it's the only way to guarantee that your Vista will work correctly.
Also, i did not give you a link in any of my posts on this thread. :)
If anybody is going to experiment with software their not sure they will like in the future, then it's a good idea to install a virtual HDD and install on to that.

+ 1
Back up your Data only. Having to install your modem will be a PITA but, your choices are:

1.- Leave as is and deal with it but your modem is working

2.- Clean Install and deal with modem installation

Which one can you live with more comfortable? ;)

Don't fret, this has happened to the best PC gurus. why can't it happen to us, right? :p

Learning from our mistakes is the only way to really learn.

You can image your hard drive with the config details, then mount the image in your new vista install. Use Macrium Free Reflect.
