Vista - cant uninstall game

still got issues trying to fix star defender 3 download.(need to uninstall so that i can redownload) Oberon trying to help.
They tell me to uninstall from the control panel.
ie go to START,CONTROL PANEL,PROGRAMS etc.

so i've highlighted it in the list-normally i would just click UNINSTALL but they tell me to only use the copy/paste method.
How do i do this.? I only know how to copy/paste my registration key in to the initial download,never ever done it before so i'm not clear on how i do it while the title is in the list amongst everything else.

Unless there is a popup during the uninstall that asks for the registration key, I don't know of a way for it to be entered. Did they mention anything special to do during the uninstall to get a registration key window to come up ?

To me, saying you need to put in the registratin key during an uninstall, I have never heard of that.

Maybe someone else around here has encountered that before, I have not.

Besides, if you are unistalling it, the registration key is kinda a moot point.

I have never heard of a copy/paste un-install, what happens if you just un-install it in a normal way ?, as long as it un-installs all the components of the program it should be OK, and if it doesn't, you can remove them manually. (run a search after the un-install for any left overs).

have tried to uninstall as normal from here a few times (used to do so with games on the old computer with no problems) but the icon stays on the desktop and then if i redownload it plays blank (see other email).

Stoneynutz,how do i remove bits manually? ie where do i need to go to find them? "run a search" -from where and how?
I do have some knowledge but its self taught and am not confident so if you wouldnt mind easy explanation please. Thankyou.

the only way thos makes any sense is if there are "invisible" characters embedded somewhere that you need to uninstall. That is rediculously stupid thing to do but I cant figure out why.

To remove it manually after running the un-install, go to start > search > and type in the name of the game and search, do an advanced search and it will find all the left overs, you can delete the folders and any files that are left, then reboot.

By following your answer i managed to locate a Cake Mania game that i hadnt been able to find after downloading
I then learnt that i could delete the shortcuts to recycling bin so that the icon was round-as should be-not a square symbol with shortcut underneath.
So my desktop looks all tidy. obsessive compulsive tendencies.

Unfortunately this actually confirms that there is some other issue with Star Defender 3 and maybe all this time i wasnt the culprit!!!

All components were deleted in the way you said. I redownloaded from the original email. The PLAY screen comes up but It did not ask again for registration key to be put in.Is that strange? and of course,as before,nmsn flashes briefly across page,screen goes black-NOTHING APPEARS.Then it goes back to desktop.

I reclicked on icon,instead of clicking PLAY i entered regi key/email but again,is not working.just flashing to black screen.

Computer is brand new-does it sound like some sort of gaming program/application is missing? Cos i downloaded Star Defender 4 only 5 days ago and that plays normally(from different company though).

The copy/paste is for registration, not uninstalling.
