CRASHES. It's a weird, suddle type of crash too. The screen will go black, and I can still hear the music and sound fx for a little bit until silence, then I'm forced to reboot.
No error msgs or anything like that.

My specs:

vista ultimate x64
AMD Phenom(tm) llx2 720 processor
8 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4600 series

I also have two screens, but I'm not sure that has anything to do with it. I've updated my drivers using driver genious pro, buts till nothing.

I find it weird how a demanding game like GTA 4 runs fantastic even while running AVG, messenger, Sonar 8, and internet applications, but Wolfenstein, prototype, or Fall out 3 and other games willl crash?
Oh and lord of the rings worked, along with hitman and scarface I think.
I tried adjusting the resolutions but, to no avail.

Any ideas?

Btw these games are not cracked, so that is not an issue.

Hi there....;)

sounds like a GPU issue.

are you monitoring card temps..??, if a card overheats the screen will blackout & force a reboot.

what PSU do you have..??, your card may be straining under load if there's not enough power.

as you say though, GTA4 is SUPER intensive..

Yeah it is up there so I dont know how it could be a power problem, especially while running othr apps.
Maybe it runs well becuase it's a console port?

Anyways how do I check my PSU and GPU?

:roflmao: Unfortunately no, it actually runs bad because it is a console port.

GPU-Z for the video card:
techPowerUp! :: Downloads

For the PSU:
CPUID

other apps:
SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

Lavalys - Comprehensive IT Security and Management (is the best, but is not free)

Another thing you can check is your Event Viewer Logs:

(Start>type : Event Viewer > Custom Views > Administrative Events)

Look for a common 'Faulting Module Path' in the

application Crash and see if it points to a

particular file , usually a .dll or .exe
