appcrash with call of duty modern warfare

While I can run this on the administrator account, my son can't. There are no parental controls for games and even trying to run it from the program files is no luck. I even ran it in compatability mode and made sure my cache was clean. Previously we had issues with failing to start the account and set up a new id and deleted old so maybe that could have some impace but he claims he's played since then with no issues. Here is what Problem Reports and Solutions and Event Viewer had multiple information (I'm only listing a couple of the information ones) says (I notice that the system time is not the actual time on the Event viewer as it's only the 14th and it says 15?) :

It doesn't even start on 1 id. On the other id it keeps saying to install the disc which is there.........

I think I'm going to have to lose it all and do an uninstall and reinstall..

If you want to keep his save games, it should be in the destination folder data. Uninstall the game, reinstall. Find the most recent patch for the game and apply it. If all isnt well there is a different problem, but the error report isnt for the game. also try updating your display and graphics drivers and in the end, if the game still doesnt recognise the disc (because you own it - apply a crack or run virtual daemon - but dont give the disc to anyone else - its only fair to the developers)

Would there be any reason that the folder only would have the name I just set up while testing it in my id? Could his profile be anywhere else?

Another question. When I uninstall and reinstall. What updates will have to be reinstalled and where can I get them from? I downloaded updates and the first one doesn't work when trying to fix this problem in the first place.

The CD is at least 1.5 years old. Do the updates accumulate or do you need to do them in an order?

Thanks again.

"if the game still doesnt recognise the disc (because you own it - apply a crack or run virtual daemon - but dont give the disc to anyone else - its only fair to the developers"

???? what does this mean???? Sorry for the nontechy in me.

My Computer

Terminology is cool
Crack: the oxford dictionary defines this as..... in tech talk this is often used by software "pirates" and I do not condone this in any way shape or form for those people, but if someone owns the disc and will not "lend" it to anyone (in your case) this will suffice.
A crack is used to replace the CD. The game has programmed code into it so that it will only run if the disc is inserted (when you install the game it does not copy some files over that are contained only on the disc so that the game will only run when the disc is inserted) (in your case this seems to be corrupted in some way)
So the crack is a small program that replaces some files in the program (stored on your pc that was copied off the disc when you installed) so that the program doesnt ask for the disc it just goes straight into the game.
Virtual Daemon is another way to get "around" this issue - it copies every file from the disc into an .ISO format and creates a "virtual CD drive" in "computer" so it will show more than one DVD drive. You click on the "virtual drive" with the game's image (.ISO) mounted onto it and it emulates the game. Both ways can be unreliable because The developers often make automatic updates for the game which will inherently make the virtual drive defunct/ and or the crack.
You might like to know most cracks will be seen by antivirus programs as "viruses" because antiviruses are and have been cracking down on software piracy for awhile - when in most cases this is not the case (cracks are not needed to be installed, if it tries to install it is probably a virus).
Also with programs such as virtual daemon, it is probably best to rename the drive of your original cd/dvdrom drive to something else ie R:/ and to rename the virtual drive to the name what your cd/dvdrom drive was ie D: or E:
Once again I dont condone this behaviour to people not paying for software outright. But in your situation one of these actions may be worth considering.

I have had issues with both vista and windows 7 with calll of duty 4.
The following can be done for any version of vista or windows 7

You have done several changes with ids and such so I would suggest the following.
This advice is for those getting appcrash issue with iw3sp.exe.

1. Clean up your registry with regcure, registry defence or some such program.
Rename mssmp3.asi in call of duty 4 miles subdirectory to something else.

2. If you have not enabled stereo mix on your onboard or add on sound card do so.

3. Reboot your machine.

4 See if call do duty 4 single player works.

5 If not uninstall call of duty 4

6 Go back and remove the directory created by the game if it is not completely
gone.

7 Reinstall the game.

8 at this point you should have no diffucutlies with either single or multioplayer starting.

Good luck
