Baldur's Gate 2 glitch, please help

I bought Baldur's Gate 2 awhile back and have been getting this weird glitch. Whenever I talk to npcs, most of the time it says that they are busy. The only way to fix this is to reload or restart the game an annoying amount of times. I am running Vista premium 32 bit. Does anyone know a fix. Thanks for any help.

This is a bug common with BG2 when running on XP or Vista. It is fixed by installing the offical patch. If you have the BG2 expansion TOB you only need to install the offical TOB patch not the BG2: SOA one. If you have TOB and haven't installed it do so. It has no drawbacks and improves the game from the start. If you don't have TOB just install the SOA patch. Here's a link to a page where you can get whichever one of the patches you need to use.

And one final note: for such an old game BG2 runs very well on Vista just make sure you don't install the game in the default location. Install it in a different location that is not in the program folders.
