Problem running Orbiter Space Flight Simulator in Vista.

I have recently upgraded to a H.P.Pavillion p6130v with 8 G.B. of memory and a NVIDIA GeForce 9100 graphics card, and for the past couple of weeks I have been downloading my files (including Orbiter), in to my new O.S.. My problem is this: Orbiter worked fine in my old sytem (Windows XP,albeit slowly), but short of the slower graphics card etc., the game worked. Now, when Orbiter does work in Vista, it works great (i.e., faster frame rate, better graphics etc., however, a large number of my add-ons have quit working and I get a CTD).
In the Orbiter log, I get the following:

ERROR: DDraw error DDERR_OUTOFMEMORY
[C:\Source\Orbiter\Texture.cpp / 224]
ERROR: TextureManager::LoadTexture|ReadDDSSurface (code: -2147024882)
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: SGM.dds
>>> [C:\Source\Orbiter\Texture.cpp / 781]
ERROR: DDraw error DDERR_OUTOFMEMORY
[C:\Source\Orbiter\Texture.cpp / 224]
ERROR: TextureManager::LoadTexture|ReadDDSSurface (code: -2147024882)
>>> ERROR: Missing texture: SanB.dds
>>> [C:\Source\Orbiter\Texture.cpp / 781]

I know for a fact that I am not missing any textures, however I am not really sure what ERROR: DDraw error DDERR_OUTOFMEMORY is all about. Is there a solution for this problem? :confused:

I would appreciate any help!!!!

Sincerely,

Hello stevcast,
There are a number of things that can cause this, my guess is that your running out of video memory, yours is an onboard graphics chip, how much is allocated to the video chip ?.
How hot is it getting ?, it must be stretched to the limit running this Sim, try turning down the graphics and see if there is any improvement.
If you want to run high end games and sims like this, it may be an idea to get a PCIe video card.
Give this a go and post your results, good luck.

stoneys-nutz,
Thanks for the input, I really do appreciate it!!! This whole computer thing is all relatively new to me, but I'm learning something new every day, to the point that I may even get to be a danger to my own mother-board. I do believe that you are correct, I think that I am running out of video memory, so I am going to try to down-size my game a bit, and eliminate some of the mods etc., that may be taxing my video card, but aren't essential to the operation of the overall simulator. I hope to have a much more powerful gaming computer in the future that will handle some of the more advanced simulators that I have. In the meantime, I think I'll do some research into a PCIe video card.

Thanks Again!!,
