Vista 64 bit Game Graphics issue (pic included)

Hello everyone!

So, today i bought my first laptop with windows vista on it. The configuration is as follows:

Toshiba Satellite P505D-S8935

AMD Turion™ X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor RM-74, 4GB DDR2 800MHz, 18.4" widescreen HD+ with TruBrite® Technology 1680x945 (HD+) ATI® Radeon™ HD 3200 256MB-1662MB,HDD 400GB, DVD-SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) with Labelflash, Webcam and microphone, Realtek® 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN, 3-USB (2.0), 1-eSATA/USB (2.0) , Windows Vista® Home Premium (SP1, 64-bit)

As I am a fan of videogames, i tried installing a few after i have updated my video drivers only to be disapointed... I have instaled Prototype, Sins of a Solar Empire and Torchling. They all had the same problem - parts of the screen were filled with tilting squares and lines just as shown in the picture below.

I tried to start S.o.a.S.E with compatability mode, but then i didnt even get to the intro page (the game froze). I managed to start Torchlight with compatability mode (Windows XP SP 2) but the problem was still there.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you all!

Peace! :D

Wow - Thats strange. Definetly some odd artifacting..

Try doing a power cycle - Take out the battery/AC Adaptor, press and hold power button for a full minute and 30 seconds. Power it back up and open a game. If this doesn't resolve the problem,

I recommend trying to reinstall Vista -

Generally the way to start an FFR on a Toshiba is to turn it on while holding down the 0 key..

If that won't do it,
Theres a physical issue with the GPU it seems :(

Good luck..

I just tried the thing you mentioned but the problem is still there. I did not reinstall Vista yet as in that case, I need to take the laptop to the sales shop as it's under warranty.

I noticed one thing, the tilting boxes are appearing only over 3D objects, like this planet or the Space Marine on the main menu of WH40k: Soulstorm, or basically all over the screen on Dawn of war 2 (those are the games I installed in addition to the previously mentioned). However when i tried to play Heroes of Might and Magic 3, it worked just fine. Thus the problem is only when projecting 3D images.....

Yeah sounds to me like hardware acceleration is not properly applied.

- Good luck.

Hmm I've read that by adjusting hardware acceleration I might solve the problem. However I can't do it. When i go to Advanced Settings > Troubleshooting, it says that my current driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration. Looking on interent i found that only catalyst drivers v 9.8 allow changes to be made. I downloaded them, rolled back drivers to older version, installed 9.8 but i still can't access h.acceleration.

Can any1 help me solve this?

Thats unusual.. I'd definetly take the computer for RMA. There's an issue there, and it's System Wide.

Ok just a update, I have solved the problem. I took the laptopt to the service center and the problem was a faulty RAM memory. Since the graphic card uses the ram memory for operations, it had this 3d imaging problem.
