USB game controller trouble

Okay...well I've downloaded StepMania onto my computer so that i can play DDR and I have a game pad and a USB converter too...so I configured everything and I'm really having no trouble...but when i play the computer is reading the arrows as an analog and not separate buttons...this really isn't and issue except for when i am holding one arrow down and i press on the other it only reads one...making double notes impossible...so i went into the control pannel, went into game controllers, and it says that it is a 4 axis 16 button joystick and when i go to properties and press the arrows it moves the axes in the direction of whatever arrow i press and only moves one way when I press both arrows...so my prediction was correct...what i can't figure out though is how to program the pad to read as buttons instead of a joystick axes...can anyone help me?

Hello ryan27o,
Did the gamepad come with any drivers ?, if not, see if there are any on the makers site.
Also, what is the make and model of your gamepad ?.

No the gamepad didn't come with any drivers. I checked the website and no drivers there either. My game pad is also specified for PS2 and I'm using a PSX+N64 USB converter made my Sumoto and I couldn't find any drivers for this product either. I'll give you the name of the dance pad and the link of it on the website hope you have some luck with it!

I found this on their website, try and enter the code and see if this helps.

I have a PC dance pad and it uses an USB adapter to connect to the PC, but I cannot perform “JUMPS” or press two arrows simultaneously in the game. Am I doing something wrong here?
Not being able to press Left and Right simultaneously is a hardware limitation of some USB adapters. However, most USB adapters have a "Dance Pad Code" that you can enter on the dance pad to get around this problem.
To enable dance pad mode, press “start, select & up arrow” simultaneously for three seconds before you start your dance game. After entering the Dance Pad Code, you will have to re-map your dance pad within the game. You won't need to remap the dance pads ever again, but you'll need to re-enter the Dance Pad Code every time you restart the computer or unplug the USB adapter.
If you are using the PC dance pad along with the Super Dual Box USB adapter on a Windows Vista operating system, you will need to install the Vista compatible driver as well. You can download it HERE on our web site.

I'm sorry but that didn't work =[ i think it might be because this is an old adapter and isn't meant for game pads such as this but mainly just controllers. So do I need to buy a whole new adapter or is there another way around it?

I think the best thing to do, would be to ask them, they have a good support site.
As this is a specialised thing, i don't want to suggest getting another controller in case it doesn't work.
The link below will take you to their home page.
Post back when you get it running, it may help somebody else.
