Solved Civilization IV on Vista

I'm trying to install Civ 4 on my laptop but everytime I attempt to initialize the setup process I'm prompted with this exact message:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

have you run the installer or app as ''Administrator''..??

have you tried to run the installer or app under ''Compatibility mode'' for XP..??

Yeah under the 'Compatability' tab I tick compatibility mode (Windows XP service pack 2) and I also tick Run as administrator but I'm prompted with the same message.

is that on the installer or the game launcher..??

sometimes the game needs to be installed in Compatibility mode, rather than just trying to launch it in Cmode....

On the installer. I stick the CD in, view the files, right click on setup.exe, properties, compatibility, run as admin, run in compatibility mode (tried 'em all), error message.

Hope that's clear. Could it be a problem with the OS config?

Its a long shot, but create a new folder on your desktop and copy the contents of the DVD/CD to the new folder and try and install from there.
Hope this helps, but as i said, its a long shot.
