*FIXED* Unable to start up Splinter Cell Double Agent PC

Hello, I bought Splinter Cell Double Agent recently, and knowing now that most games dont work on vista let alone a 64bit i knew the chances were slim that is was able to run. So i installed it, it didnt work and so i emailed ubisoft support and they said 'sorry no solution" But for some reason other gaming forums told me otherwise. I hadnt been able to find out the solution because i never saved the url to the place which said it had the answer, and i just wanted to know if any other vista 64bit knows how to get the game running up. Much Appreciated Dazz

Update: I forgot to mention that i was able to run splinter cell pandora tomorrow which is even older, so there is no reason that a newer version would not work right? Strange, but thanks to anyone that does help me

have you tried running the game in compatability mode? I recall playing splinter cell double agent on vista 64bit but i distinctly remember graphical artefacts on screen, ie/ warped models and shaders not drawing... see below

Thanks for the reply, yes i always run any games that i play on compatibility mode, since any game made before vista's release either needs compatibility or doesnt even run. And if anyone else asks, yes i am on administrator and i do tick the box in properties to "run as administrator".

I remember reading an article about needing to put " -ll" at the end of some application in order to run, but i cant find that same article anymore. And thanks for trying to help, +rep to mr needs & hariharan

That article sounds more like WINE.

try WineHQ - Wine Application Database

WINE is not an emulator it runs on top of linux giving the ability to run Windows Applications.

It also reminded me of Counter Strike 1.6 and source which uses Flags like -game-cstrike.

Try the above website and maybe it will answer your above query.

I did something like that, I did have an 8800 GTS before my 260 GTX and I got told that I needed to add "-LL" to the end of my executable, I just patched it and it worked, also ubisoft have apparently been lazy and told everyone that if they have a problem with the game loading past the splash screen, simply use a no-dvd patch, this was surprising when I heard this but looks like Ubisoft obviously don't have any intention of actually giving good customer service and promoting the use of potentially illegal activity is terrible for company image

No need, updating the game with a patch is what did the trick, although as many other forums suggest that there are bugs in the game i have already found a few, and ubisoft being a company probably wouldnt be bothered to release another patch, thanks for the help,

Double agent is an old game now, I can't see a new patch coming out for it at all, conviction is out now so ubisoft pretend that older games don't exist anymore, however im glad you have fixed the issue, yes there is a lot of bugs in the game, the major one i would like to point out is the fact that light is only reflected when you are close to the object its reflecting off, when i was on 150 drivers by nvidia, the reflection worked perfectly but now....
and i suspect that you didn't have the warped sam fisher as i described before?

I hope i never will.
i got stuck in a double closed cage in the 3rd training mission with the JBA,
when i jumped off the rappel rope. Yes and i have heard around forums that there are plenty of bugs to make the user throw the game away
