Sims3 won't launch

:cry:Sims3 launcher has stopped working....Played the game just fine for months. Then started experiencing crashes. Now the game won't launch at all. I have run the registry fixer, I have changed the Nvidia driver, I spent hours on the phone with HP, running spyware, malware, checking for viruses. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the games (sims3 and WA). My Os is vista home premium 32 bit. Oh and now I have lost sound....at first I thought it was just a sims3 withdrawal symptom, but no......it seems to be another vista problem...

My Computer

Follow these steps:

1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box type cmd
3. Right click on Command Prompt and select run as Administrator
4. In command prompt, type:

sfc /scannow

And press enter. Let that run and let us know if it found any problems

If it did find errors, then I want you to run this batch file (attached file) as an administrator, and upload the text file that it creates on your desktop.

Is this a legal copy of the Sims? And have you tried reinstalling the Sims?

Tom

After you try the above suggestion:

Did you make any changes on the computer around the time that the crashes started? Updates to the game, Windows, other new programs, anything?

In the OP:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the games (sims3 and WA).

The only changes I made was to download itunes for my ipod and I did download some items for the Sims from the EA store. I do have automatic update for windows on this device, as well.

Do you reinstall the downloaded content from the EA store when you reinstall the game?

I reinstalled Sims3 only. (I did not reinstall WA) I reinstalled from a completely new disk. I did not reinstall any of the downloaded EA content.

But you did UNinstall WA? Or have you not touched it since the problem started?
