Upgrade from Duo to Hexa Good idea?

Im wondering if it is worth upgrading my processer to a Hexa core


I currently have
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale 3.16GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor BX80570E8500

and was going to upgrade to
Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX

for video gaming and for a fast and reliable computer

Good idea or bad idea?

A 6 core upgrade will definitely make your computer run faster - you'll get almost 3 times more power (12GHz faster).

i kinda figured that but i was wondering how much more it will do, will i really use all 6 cores? if not all 3 cores if i shut 3 off for the 1200mhz boost

That depends if you really need that extra speed. So if you use it for extreme gaming, only few games would require a more powerful processor than you already have. As long as you don't have any viruses, it should run fine so unless you think it's really slow, don't bother.
