Hello, am fairly new to this site and tried searching my question incase it's already been posted, which I couldn't see -but sorry if it has!!
I'm trying to run the game 'Giants' on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525, OS Vista Home Premium) I've been told it is compatible and I have found that other games released around the same time as Giants have been compatible and run without any issues.
I had to download and extract the file gs_ds.dll to sort out the problem with the game not starting in the first place - that seemed to fix that problem.
My problem now is that I get to the menu screen but ... there's no menu screen??
I can hear the music, and even the sound of my cursor navigating the options but I can't see a bloomin' thing?? I was told that hitting 'enter' twice would make a new game load, although that didn't work for me. Even if it did, what happens with saving games and loading a saved game?
I have no idea what graphics card or soundcard I have, when I looked it was a name I didn't recognise! If that's crucial I'll post what I see.
But anyway there doesn't seem to be a solution out there, I've searched. I wondered if anyone on here would have some answers? Or at least have the same problem with any advice? I'm utterly sure it's the game, or my graphics card or something, and not something that Vista's responsible for - I guess I'm just reaching the end of my tether with this game!!
