Command and Conquer The First Decade Direct X Error

I keep receiving errors when trying to play Generals and Renegade, it tells me to update my direct x to 8.1 or higher when I already have Direct X 10.1. I have the game patched up to 1.03. I would appreciate any help.

Renegade works now but I'm still having the same problems with Generals. Come on guys I would love some help.
