Far Cry 1 Installation Problem (even though it ran fine on this comp last year)

I'm having strange problems installing Far Cry on to my computer.

Here's the kicker: I ran it a year ago on the same computer and then tried to uninstall it using the Program Files under control panel for Windows Vista.

Apparently, Far Cry doesn't like that.

So I tried removing it and I guess it was only partial because now when I try to install Far Cry it tells me that CRYSYSTEM.DLL loading failed. As I understand it Far Cry is still partially on my computer and is blocking me.

I tried downloading this game a few times and it told me it failed but it did fill up my hard drive.

First question: how do I find these surplus files and remove them to free some space on my hard drive.

Second question: how do I load Far Cry up without having to buy some registry program? I'm okay with a free one but don't feel like paying for it because I could just run this game on my clumsy xp windows laptop, I suspect.

Here are my specs:

Hi,

Found this info but have'nt had time to check out the ATI website yet: -

ATI based cards must have: ** Catalyst drivers 3.9 **

****************IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ATI USERS:*******************************
If you install other Catalyst drivers other than version 3.9,
you could have rendering problems and slowdowns.
For more info check out www.ati.com.

Please search for the compatable Catalyst drivers drivers, as per the above note, relating to your graphics card & hopefully that will sort you out?

Try these?
