Hi, i'm aware this isn't a hardware or software failure but more of a setting somewhere and I am hopping somebody can help me out. If i have two windows-es open lets say a game running and browser open. Lets say my game is in window mode so i can surf the net while i play. Well my problem is when i switch my focus to browser the game freezes up and i can't see whats going on with it. I have to click the game back and put it as my main focus for it to work again. I just reinstalled my pc and did all the updates and before i could see what is happening in the game while my browser has focus. I am using multi screens (extending) and i need to be able to see whats going on on my one monitor while other one is doing something else.

If i have been confusing let me know and i will try to explain again and better.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Can you tell us more about your system.

1. maufacture name...
2. Model Number...
3. Laptop or desktop...
4. How much Ram is installed...
5. Browers name
6. Names of the games you are playing...
7. Do you know when this first happened and what you were doing...
8. Did you reformatt when you reinstalled..

Have you run your anti-virus lately, if not I would recommend you do a updated scan.

Since you play games etc. I would recommend the you download malwarebytes as well and run a full scan as well. Here is the link you can download the free version..Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download

I just reformatted my PC. This did not happen before. Before my reformat i could have my game running in the back window while i am searching through the web so i still see what is going on in the game without having to click it first. Now my game screen gets frozen when i select any other screen. So im going to include some pictures to try and explain better.

Read the text on pictures to explain better.

The game itself does not lag even when i have highest settings on. My computer is strong enough to support 10 of these games at once. The game also does not freezes while running, ever.

Problem is not with computer not being able to support, its some setting somewhere i need to tweak or update (I have done all windows updates) that i missed maybe? Strange thing is while i have windows media player running it does not freezes up. So i am assuming some setting involving the game somewhere (I have looked and tried every settings in the game)

Specs of my computer:

Acer Aspire M7720

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @2.67GHz 2.67GHz
Memory(RAM): 6.00 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating System (Windows Vista home premium)

Desktop

Names of my games are Jade Dynasty and Heroes of Newerth

What else do you need to know? and how can i find out?

Also thanks for your kind welcome.

Hi bagzli, welcome, I see what you are doing, most games will freeze up when doing that as the game requires input at all times, I'm assuming you're running in windowed mode? I have dual screens and when I swap control to my second screen, the first screen freezes the game, it's not a fault with your system, it is merely how the games are designed. The only way to do both is to download a 3rd party program that will allow you to run games in the background while surfing the net/playing media/etc... However, I don't know of any programs that do this as I've never needed it.

i really dont think its the game's fault. Before i formatted my pc this worked fine on its own. So some setting must of changed that i had before somewhere with the way windows is running the game? My lap top doesnt have this problem and its runing windows 7.

I think i shouldn't have mentioned dual screen, can you forget it? xD why is not working with one screen? lol
