Have Vista Home Edition. When playing Spider Solitare, dragging the cards happen very slowly. I'm sure I see slowness in other things also, but it is real evident playing cards. I've tried everything I can think of to solve the problem (used registry cleaning programs, run available diagnostics, etc). Anybody have any thoughts?

First, never use registry cleaners. They do more harm than good.
That being said its probably not enough memory. How much memory do you have.
If you do have sufficient memory, I would take a memory test.
If you pass the test. I would make a complete anti virus scan
and
Download and make a full scan with malwarebytes.

Not sure if this is on track with the problem but what are your computer specs? My computer would do the same with my Graphics card, if the driver crashed and was forced to use the Standard VGA Driver unless restarted. otherwise... do what richard said.

hope i helped in some way

Rich:
I have 2.0 GB Memory
Available Physical Memory is 927 MB
Total Virtual memory is 4.93 GB
Available Virtual Memory is 3.30 GB

I did run a full scan with the malwarebytes program, and it indicated no problems.
I use Norton Internet Security, and do frequent Quick Scans and a weekly Full Scan.
I was unable to get to the memory test. The download only produced an image with no program.

CPU, Graphics card i know your ram. Also look in Device manager to see what the Display Adapter reports.

Start-control panel- system- (on you left) device manager- display adapter and report what it says (eg. Ati Radeon HD 6450 OR Standard VGA driver.

Thanks
