Asus Republic for Gamers FREEZES

Hey guys,

I have a problem with my gaming laptop, it freezes like hell most of the time when I try to run World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, or even Crysis! What I do I just force shut it down, re-run it over and over till it works fine! I can't figure out where is the problem, i've updated my graphic card yet its still the same.

These details from the laptop:
Model: Asus Notebook G73th Series
Process: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q720 @ 1.60GHz
Installed Memory (RAM) 6.00GB
64-bit Operating System

I believe I have an ATI graphic card..

Any solutions

Hello Bosaif and welcome to the forums :party

I apologies for the delay, but better late than never. Just a few quick questions before we can get onto solutions:

Could you please describe what happens exactly?
Does it just become completely unresponsive?
Does it continue to play sound?
Can you still move your mouse?
Do you ever get BSODs?
Have you overclocked your laptop? Is this a recent problem?

It happens randomly, when I play some games, the screen freezes, turns into black, sometimes white, and can't do anything! I have to force shutdown (reboot)
Do you ever get BSODs?
What's that? lol.
Have you overclocked your laptop? Is this a recent problem?
I'm not expert at those stuff so I don't think so...

A BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) is what happens when something really goes wrong with Windows. It looks like the following:

Okay, well if you don't know about it then the chances are that it isn't overclocked :)

Is this a recent problem?

Is it any games in particular? Have you noticed any patterns in the crashes? Don't worry if you haven't, it's a bit of a long shot!

Hi Bosaif,

That's a shame :( When you say you "updated my graphic card", do you mean the driver? Or have you replaced the card itself?

I would like you to run the following tool for me, just so I can have a look at the sort of errors that you're experiencing:

  1. Please download the Event Viewer Tool by Vino Rosso VEW and save it to your Desktop:
  2. Double-click VEW.exe
  3. Under 'Select log to query', select (as appropriate):
    • Application
    • System
  4. Under 'Select type to list', select (as appropriate):
    • Error
    • Information
    • Warning
Then use the 'Date of events' or 'Number of events' as follows:

  • Click the radio button for 'Date of events'
In the From: boxes type 11 05 2012
In the To: boxes type today's date: 11 06 2012
    Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.
Please post the Output log in your next reply

Tom

Most likely it's an error due to overheating and extensive video settings. Try to start off the game in the lowest resolution and graphical features. If you haven't already, purchase a cooling pad for the laptop.

While I myself have a republic of gamers computer and do not have this issue, I have read on the ASUS/D3/WoW forums that alot of people are having pretty much the same problem, and it seems to be with the graphics card and how it is running with the other parts of the asus computer.

Im not sure what card you have in yours but mine is the geforce gtx 560m.

Sorry i couldnt help much but just wanted to let you know its not just you thats having these problems!
