| Vista 64 bit (ultimate) | Please help BSOD whilst downloading Hi guys, New here and this is sort of the last place i have come to try and find a solution to my rather annoying problem. As you can imagine with many BSOD errors/crashes i am at wits ends trying to sort this problem out. Little back ground first to clear any questions up: New pc: *Quad core 2.4ghz *Giga-byte motherboard (cant remember the model number off the top of my head) *Nvidia graphics gts 8800 320 mb card *currently 2gb corsair ddr2 ram *Vista 64 bit all updates performed *Running Avira home premium suite (all updates preformed) *All drivers are updated via giga byte and Nvidia. *ADSL2+ connection *linksys modem (all updates performed) *problem* Lately have been getting many BSOD's when downloading files. Browsing appears to be fine, playing online games yet to be tested. Just downloading from websites causes a variety of BSOD errors. I have had the following: *Initially it was an afd.sys error *After tweaking and updating some drivers it was a Bad Pool headers error *And more recently it was a Drive IRQL not less ... ... error. The problem only occurs when i am downloading and appears intermittent, as in i can download some files fine, others cause the BSOD with one of the above errors. There appears to be no pattern to the files i can download successfully and those that "cause" the error. The problem first occured the other day after i noticed windows performing a small update along with my antivirus, subsequently checked with my anti virus and there are no issues with their drivers, and no releases from Microsoft regarding their recent updates. I have performed registry cleans, malware/spyware cleans (nothing came up). Virus scans nothing. Have tried analyzing the minidumps and researching them but all lead to either driver error or afd.sys error. I have done everything short of reformatting and i am afraid to do that simply because after a bit of research the errors are to do with *i think* drivers and networking!! Thus a reformat will fix until updates are performed (correct me if i am wrong in this). I am at wits ends because i have exhausted every possible thing in my knowledge to 'fix' the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to fix the issue. Apologize for the length of the post, trying to cram as much info to eliminate any questions. Thank you for any future information/replies. |

| Windows Vista X64 | Re: Please help BSOD whilst downloading Yep looks like a Network Driver issue since it happens only while downloading. Have to tried different download managers ?Maybe it is bcoz of software incompatibility. Look for updated drivers and/or if it was working before then try the driver rollback feature. |

| Vista 64 bit (ultimate) | Re: Please help BSOD whilst downloading I use firefox browser and download through them so i guess i could try explorer as the downloader. Where is this driver roll back feature you speak of? cheers. (edit: regards to software the latest thing i installed was java updater 2 i think it was, have uninstalled that and other "new" software installed). I also have rolled back the system to a previous date (around 4 days before errors) nothing changed. |

| Windows Vista X64 | Re: Please help BSOD whilst downloading in Device manager where you see all your hardware,Right Click one of them and click properties,u'll see the "rollback driver" option. try a download manager like "flashget" and see if the same thing happens. Also have you overclocked your PC ?if so then revert to stock settings and see if the BSODs go away. |

| Vista 64 bit (ultimate) | Re: Please help BSOD whilst downloading Already said this but really appreciate all the feed back and those willing to look into this for me. Got pretty frustrated so i reinstalled windows (complete reformat) Only installed the windows updates, my antivirus (avira - who have already confirmed it is not a problem with them) Attempted to crash the system and bingo, got it to bluescreen in 5 mins. z3r010 - there is only 1 network port on motherboard. Is there any way to test the network port at all? (quick edit ---> tested all drivers on motherboard earlier, got all the latest and didn't change anything). Also this may be related recently got adsl2+ 20mb connection and been receiving sub par speeds around 2000kb where should be getting 10000kb + ). Would love to test it somehow before i go yell at my computer store!!! Thanks again for all help and feedback |
