Constant App Crashes

Hi Guys,

Just installed my 3rd system onto Vista Ultimate x64. However, there is now a constant problem of when trying to execute downloaded programs (ie AVG, latest Directx) the application just crashes out in an AppCrash error.

I have tried the UAC and permissions and SAFE MODE but nothing.

I have read through varius Techs by MS but to no avail and have even done clean re-installs but still the same problem.

I have read somewhere that Vista likes different files to be ordered, is ht correct and would anybody have an idea of what is happening?

Any help grately welcome.

Thanks

Have a look in your error logs. There may be something you have overlooked. Have you tried using the programs in administrator account?

Hi,

Yes I checked the error log but nothing logged. and yes tried adim account, as mentioned at start but to no avail. Seems strange.

There is another part of vista that stops porgrams from running, not at a vista computer right now so cant jump into the system to find out which part. Data execution prevention or something like that. This is different from uac.
Try this route. I know this has prevented me from running some programs. When you get an app crash do you get a small pop up in the botton right of the screen saying vista has stopped this program from working because... ?

I Check the memory and HDD, but it strange cos I can access the network and run other programs.

Maybe will try installing the 32bit ultimate version and see what happens with that. But I know that software works as used that on a quad system (that crashed due to HDD failure).

Getting onto the internet has nothing to do with faulty hardware
X64 is still very picky with the hardware used. Maybe that's the issue.

Hi,

I didnt mean the internet i meant my own network. I can download the programs that I need and copy them over to Visa and they will run, or they will run from the remote client. But if downloaded direct to Visa system cause the appcrash.

Maybe deep permissions are to blame...?

I find it very hard to understrand your problem, Dags.

Let me summarize it for you what I understand:

- Programs run through the network (execute program on remote client or server)
- Programs copied from your own LAN to your PC run
- Programs that are downloaded from the internet and run/installed on your PC cause errors.

When this is true, the downloads may be corrupted. Access permissions do not cause appcrashes.
