Vista Business 64 - Stuck at Advanced Boot Options

So I just built my system, with Vista 64. I wanted to download Coretemp but apparently that requires unsigned drivers so I tried to get into Advanced Boot Options through F8 while booting. F8 never registered, so now I tried going into MSConfig -> Boot -> Safe Boot.

Now it goes into Advanced Boot Options but it seems to be frozen - none of my keystrokes register (Arrow keys, Enter, etc.) so I can't get out of it. Every time I boot the computer it will come to this screen.

I tried booting up with the Vista CD but for some reason it will not do anything when I press keys while "Press any key to boot from CD" is displayed.

The keyboard does register while I'm booting before this screen appears, though, because I can get into BIOS.

Edit:

I managed to boot to my Vista DVD by unplugging the SATA cable from the HDD (Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB) and then when it finally booted to the DVD I plugged the SATA cable back into my HDD again. I tried Repairing but it said it didn't work, so I did a System Restore from the last point. Restarted.

The problem is still the same, except that instead of going to Advanced Boot Options it goes to an error message for the "Windows Boot Manager" saying:

Quote:
File: \Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
Edit:
Okay now I tried to format the HD and then install Vista again (same procedure as above). Well, formatting worked, but it won't install because "Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation." If I just try to normal boot like this it says that "Bootmgr is missing" and that's it. I probably screwed things up by taking out and putting in the SATA cable like that =(.

Final edit, I guess:
Well, booted up again onto the Vista disc and this time just deleted the partition and recreated it. Tried to install... still didn't work. I was pretty depressed now. But then I restarted - Lo and behold, no boot problems for some reason, I was able to boot to DVD without unplugging my HDD, and it recognized my HDD fine. Finally managed to reinstall Vista and now everything is "fine."
