Vista x64 Newbie... couple of Q's if I may

Hi :)

Just got and installed Vista x64 Ultimate today, and thus far everything seems to be going smoothly (touch wood). I'm somewhat of a "veteran" in terms of computer use, but obviously brand new to vista and all its foibles, so forgive me if I ask seemingly daft questions.

All my hardware, or at least the major stuff has been detected fine and I've been able to get x64 drivers for mobo etc (this being a relatively new machine there was no problem.) However, I have an old-ish SCSI card which runs an ancient but thouroughly useable HP 6100C scanner (letter size with Document feeder) This worked fine under XP, and would indeed seem to work fine under vista32 - there are drivers for the card's chipset on the Adaptec website, but alas none for Vista x64 (the card is an Adaptec 2904). I have tried installing the vista32 driver but cant seem to get it to play, unless I am doing something wrong. I'd rather not go back to XP just so I can use my scanner, so there is always Vista32 I could install, since I have "Ultimate"

Is there any way round this that is cheap/free (or at least cheaper than a new scanner, which I'm loathe to do since the existing one is fine?)

Also, I note from posts in here that SP1 is out for vista.... or is it beta ?

cheers

Andrew

SP1 is still in RC mode. Should be out either next Tuesday or the following week, I suspect.

Do you know something I don't!!

I wouldn't bet on seeing it before mid feb.

Microsoft being on time would be a miracle, if they released something early it could well be a revelation :sarc:

My understanding is that HP printers and scanners are having problems with vista and it might be worth checking out any HP forums for the answer
