Hi there, I'v got a HP pavilion dv9000 laptop with vista ultimate x64. The laptop takes a long time to start up and to shutdown and there are alot of errors/warnings/critical crap on the event viewer.
My system is a

HP pavilion dv9000
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T7200 @2.00GHz 2.00GHz
1022MB RAM
64 Bit OS

and has a rating of 4.5

I'v tried disabling all start up items and no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Dave

My Computer

Can you check something for me.

Click start
In the search box type "services.msc" (no quotes).
See if you have 2 services that start with "cyberlink"

If you do. Right click the service and go to properties, and change the setting from automatic to automatic (delayed start) on both of them.

Reboot

Let me know if that fixes it. I've had that issue with ALOT of HP laptops and desktops.

Here is n little "tweak" i wrote myself...If you have AVG, it might detect it as spyware/virus, but it is not...Before you run this patch ( you will hardly see anything happen as it actualy modifies your registry ), do a System Backup. After running this little app, re-start your machine...I did this on Vist Ultimate 32-bit...If you have any probs with it ( which i doubt ), just do a system-rollback ;)

...let me know if it worked :)

Raj, 64 bit O/S are sold nearly everywhere over here.

Alabama must be like NT in Australia cause I certainly had a choice of 64bit when I built my PC and havent regretted it so far.

:)

to the OP. I would take the PC back to HP or wherever you bought it from. 1gig of RAM isn't much it's probably why so slow.

Wow......I see 64 bit Vista machines in practically every store I go in to.
