Problems with slow start up & shutdown & heaps of events

Hi there, I'v got a HP pavilion dv9000 laptop with vista ultimate x64. The laptop takes a long time to start up and to shutdown and there are alot of errors/warnings/critical crap on the event viewer.
My system is a

1022MB RAM
64 Bit OS

and has a rating of 4.5

I'v tried disabling all start up items and no luck.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Dave

Re: Problems with slow start up & shutdown & heaps of events

Can you check something for me.

Click start
In the search box type "services.msc" (no quotes).
See if you have 2 services that start with "cyberlink"

If you do. Right click the service and go to properties, and change the setting from automatic to automatic (delayed start) on both of them.

Reboot

Let me know if that fixes it. I've had that issue with ALOT of HP laptops and desktops.

Hi Whistle,
Did you perform an upgrade to the 64 bit from 32 bit? If so did you perform a clean install or upgrade?

Hi Raj, No i didn't do an upgrade. I bought the HP laptop brand new and it was all
pre-installed.

Re: Problems with slow start up & shutdown & heaps of events

Here is n little "tweak" i wrote myself...If you have AVG, it might detect it as spyware/virus, but it is not...Before you run this patch ( you will hardly see anything happen as it actualy modifies your registry ), do a System Backup. After running this little app, re-start your machine...I did this on Vist Ultimate 32-bit...If you have any probs with it ( which i doubt ), just do a system-rollback

...let me know if it worked

Re: Problems with slow start up & shutdown & heaps of events

In all my years I have never heard of any store selling the 64-Bit versions of Windows. Hmmm
