Vista x64 start menu and task bar freezes

I upgraded to Vista x64 about two months ago to take advantage of the full 4 gigabyte of RAM on my system. I am using an AMD X2 (939) 64 4400 with two MB of cache, on a motherboard with a Nvidia chipset , GDDR 3 Nvidia 6800 SLI XT card, PC 2700 memory and a newer high-end power supply.
My question is, from day one after installing Vista x64, my start menu and task bar freezes up every hour and 58 minutes, almost to the minute. I have to log out and restart it, at which time it works perfectly for another hour and 58 minutes. It is not a big deal, and I am hoping the new service pack will take care of the problem, but as the debate of its release continues, I was hoping for a quicker solution.
Thanks in advance for any help on this problem that is more of an inconvenience than a major issue. I like Vista x64, and save this one problem, it has been a great experience and I am happy I upgraded.
