Switching to Vista x64

Hello! I'm a newbie here. I built myself a pretty decent system with following specs and I'm currently using Vista Ultimate 32-bit edition. I've been thinking about switching to 64-bit. Just wondering if it's a good idea or not with the hardware I have listed below ? (All hardware drivers and BIOS firmware up-to-date) I found out that my mobo and its BIOS doesn't have a memory remapping feature. Will that be needed to take full advantage of my 4GB RAM if I make this switch ? BIOS sees full 4GB but my current Vista 32bit only sees 3582MB of it. Also is 4 GB worth the switch or should I really get 8GB to take full advantage of x64 ? I do plan on upgrading to 8GB later down the road but probably not for a few months.

hi, welcome!

yes, upgrade to 64 bit. Its not just the extra RAM you will see, but the currently unused 64bit registers in your 4 cores could make a difference in performance. 64bit is also more secure. You paid for a lot of silicon that is currently sitting idle.

I've built 12 vista 64 systems and have never encountered a remapping issue, guess there's a patch though if you need it.

4GB is more than enough for gaming. 8GB might be useful for media production, video editing or heavy virtualization, otherwise its a complete waste of money, windows won't even use it.
