hay im trying to deny a "standard" user account the privilege of creating, modifying, or deleting other user accounts. but i still want to grant the user the ability to do peaty much whatever they want. i cant find a tutorial on how to do this so maybe someone here can help.

P.S there are other things i want to deny the other user access to but i already know how to do that

Hi capzziatc,

Welcome to Vista Forums.

By default a Standard user account cannot create or modify another user account. The only way that they can is if they have the Administrator account's password. A Standard account can do pretty much what they want to do as long it only affects their account. If they have the Administrator's password, then they will have the same access as you.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

that does make sense. But at the same time when i just attempted to crate a new user while on his account i DID NOT get any notice saying "your account privileges do not allow you to create a new user" or anything like that. (which is what i would assume you would get). instead when i try to create an account from his account i get an error saying "the name you inputed is invalid do not use these characters $,?,<,>,ect, ect"

Do you have UAC turned on?

Turn UAC back on and restart the computer, then see if it will stop you from creating another account while logged on to a Standard account.
