Hi all, I'm new here and really like the forum. The "Vista Tutorials" are great! They've already saved my tail. I've had 2 run-ins with DEP, and the tutorials got me through it. DEP has to be the worst pain in the neck I've seen. It shuts down programs even when nothing is wrong, and offers no cure or solution.
DEP is now disabled, never to rear it's ugly head again.:D

It's not a good idea to turn DEP (Data Execution Prevention) off, as it is but one line of defence against malware. DEP is designed to prevent programs from executing code in memory marked as data.

If any of your programs are falling foul of DEP, then it's safer to instead find updates for those program to make them Vista compliant.
