How much ram will it have - If you use 4gb+ then get the 64 bit version otherwise I would stick to 32bit. However I guess it depends on what you are going to do with the laptop as well. If you are going to use heavy image manipulation / 3d packages then 64 bit maybe the way.

I converted to vista 64 bit as I make BIG digital artwork which 32 bit couldn't handle due to ram limitations ( 32 bit will max out at 3 to 3.5gb ram ). For gaming you probably won't notice any difference.....yet. And by the time games utilise 64 bit and more ram your system will probably be obsolete anyway.

64 bit then....job done...check with dell that the motherboard will see all the ram.

But, why get a laptop? You will have more horsepower for the same price with a desktop. Also, you can upgrade videocards / add more drives / add more ram use a much better screen with better resolution. Not to put you off a XPS laptop but one of my clients recently bought one (not sure what model so I could be way off) and the viewing angle on the screen was not good at all.

Maybe ask Dell for specifications of the screen before you buy...or I'm sure there will be someone here who has one and can confirm/deny what i've just said.
