Cannot drag a file from desktop to Explorer window...

I have a really annoying problem. I'm not sure at what point this started happening, but for some reason I cannot drag any file or shortcut from my desktop to any open Explorer window, but I can drag files and shortcuts from any Explorer window to any other Explorer window. All I see is the big "cancel" mouse cursor. I can also copy and paste or cut and paste without a problem. It's probably something in the registry, but I'm not sure I know where to look. Any ideas?

Have you restarted the computer to see if that helps?

If not, then see if running a sfc /scannow command can find and fix any system file error that may be causing this problem.

If it still will not drag and drop for you, then you can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem started.

Well, I rebooted and all is fine again. Some people would probably be okay with that but I can't help but think that there might be something else going on with my system, even if that's the only problem I have noticed.

Your welcome GliTCH. I'm glad to hear that you were able to resolve your problem the easy way. If you continue to get this problem off and on, then go ahead and run the sfc /scannow command. It will never mess up anything by running it.
