| Cannot drag a file from desktop to Explorer window... I have a really annoying problem. I'm not sure at what point this started happening, but for some reason I cannot drag any file or shortcut from my desktop to any open Explorer window, but I can drag files and shortcuts from any Explorer window to any other Explorer window. All I see is the big "cancel" mouse cursor. I can also copy and paste or cut and paste without a problem. It's probably something in the registry, but I'm not sure I know where to look. Any ideas? |

If not, then see if running a sfc /scannow command can find and fix any system file error that may be causing this problem. System Files - SFC Command If it still will not drag and drop for you, then you can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before the problem started. System Restore - How to Hope this helps you, Shawn |

| Re: Cannot drag a file from desktop to Explorer window... Well, I rebooted and all is fine again. Some people would probably be okay with that but I can't help but think that there might be something else going on with my system, even if that's the only problem I have noticed. Thanks for all the help. ![]() |

If you continue to get this problem off and on, then go ahead and run the sfc /scannow command. It will never mess up anything by running it. Shawn |
