hello,

i set up an account for my daughter, and setup parental controls and under the webfilter i set the setting to high which is what i want but i cannot get adobe flash player or any other of the IE7 add-ons to work under high setting, but will work under meduim setting. how can i get adobe flash player/add-ons to work under high setting? my daughter is 5yrs, and i just want all of nick jr website to work, right now she cannot watch the shows that they have on the site or play the games on the site. like i said everything does work fine on medium setting but i feel that setting is not right for a 5yr.
thankyou in advance for your help.

Welcome to the Vista x64 Forums

There is an excellent tutorial on parental controls here. Give it a try and see if there is some information in there that can assist you: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/95139-parental-controls-setup-use.html

There's also a tutorial on blocking or allowing specific web sites with parental controls: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/95142-parental-controls-web-filter.html

I hope this helps you.

Hi supernoob,

Welcome to Vista x64 Forums.

I suppose you can go the other route and only use a safe list of allowed websites. This way you can leave Medium checked and still be safe.

Check Only allow websites which are on the allow list in step 6 and add the websites that you feel are safe.

Hope this helps,

ok, i have tried this on high setting added almost every url from nickjr.com, and the page loads just fine but in the area where the video or game would be nothing is being displayed

ex: it's like if you were looking a youtube page and you can read everything and everything looks fine but there's no video.

i'm just curious if IE7 blocks all add-ons/plug-ins from running under the high setting

Hello again Supernoob,

I'd suggest the same thing as Brink did. Read his post. You can set the filtering to medium, and then specify which web sites are allowed to be accessed. This way the content is available on the selected websites and blocked for all others.

I hope this helps.

You may need to adjust your content filter level to a lower level. You may try having None checked to see how it works, but make sure you have Only allow websites which are on the allow list checked. The location on the video may have to be added to the allowed list to.

ok, what i did is just checked "Only allow websites which are on the list" and everything works fine, and i suppose this way is ok, i did try to go to a site that was not on the list and it did not allow me and when i click on the link on the page it gave me it asked me for my password to allow the page which is cool with me.
i just think it is odd that adobe flash player/ or add-ons would not work under the high setting.

thankyou .Joe and Brink for your help.

Your welcome supernoob. I'm glad that it is doing what you want it to do now.

My guess is the the content may not be able to be rated by Parental Control for flash player and some add-ons, so it will block it by default on high.

Thank you for the feedback,
Shawn
