Hi, i got this problem, this afternoon.I start up my computer, and before it would load the os (vista ult 64) i get a message:FAILED TO BOOT DISK, PLEASE ENTER SYSTEM DISK.I thought that it was a common error, so i checked my cables behind of the computer, after that i started the computer again, and the it loaded, but it was too slow.I don't know why, but it took too much time to do everything and was impossible to get the system going. When i choose to run the os at safe mode it runs smooth, but if i run ut on normal mode it's too slow.Any help would be much appreciated cause i don't wanna format my system again.

Thanx in advance!

Well, I'm kinda shooting in the dark here. Do you, by chance, have a pair of hard drives in your computer? If so, make sure the jumpers on each are set properly. You can use cable select, but you need to make sure they are in the right order. If they are both set to master, you may have a boot order error. In that case, take a look in your BIOS and check to make sure you have the hard drive with the OS on it before the other one.

Also, make sure there isn't a conflict with a floppy drive or some bootable CD drive.

The thing is, those suggestions shouldn't really be helpful if you can get to safe mode (that indicates you're getting to the right disk). Part of why I'm at a loss.

In safe mode, you could try typing sfc /scannow in the command prompt. That will check file integrity. Another thing to do is run a chkdisk, so make sure there wasn't some kind of damage to the boot sector.

Please post some system specs as well, so we know if there's a conflict somewhere.

Good luck,

Scallion

Also look for harddrive controller errors in your logs.

Left Click on Start Menu.
Right click on Computer and choose manage.
Click on the event viewer.
You now have loads of options to try and pin down what is happening.
Expand the error tab.
Look for things in the last 24 hours.

I found that a bios update on my rig solved these errors and actually speeded up my system.
