    Laptop battery

Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure where to post it.

I have a dell inspiron 6400 notebook, it's great, but i don't know about the battery. I just about always have it plugged in to external power source so i don't really need the battery. Should i take the battery out? will it reduce battery life leaving it in the computer when not in use?

    thanks heaps!

I'd recommend leaving the battery in. Sort of a built in backup power supply. Newer batteries don't develop memories as batteries of the past. You should be ok keeping the battery in.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for your help. When i un plug the computer and the battery is fully charged, it says it's only 95% charged even though it's full. Why is this?
