Keep active window behind

Have an unusual wish maybe... used alot of linux before and edit a lot of textfiles in separate windows and miss a very handy setting.
I want to just point on the active window an be able to write in it, if just a bit of it is visable. I don't want it to popup in front of other windows which are covering parts of the active window.
I found the "make window active by just pointing on it" but that popups the window... Minor problem but...is it possible?

Well, no, you cannot have an active window without it popping up to the front of the screen. The only time that this is possible is if there is another application window that has been specifically created by the developer with the "Keep on Top" flag. An example is the Task Manager that can be opened using <CTRL>+<SHIFT>+<ESC>. Task Manager is always at the top of the stack, whether it is the active window or not.

Sorry I couldn't give any other help on this...
