Typing causes total crash ...

I picked up my new PC today with Ultimate x64 installed, q660, 8 Mb Ram. The first thing I tried to do was set-up the Internet connection to a static IP address. I can click in the field, but the minute i type vista freezes and while other programs appear to run in the task manager in fact they won't work when I open each window.

Help! Any ideas? I know I need to update drivers, but I need to get onto the Internet to do that and obviously can't get online if I can't input the right info.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Julie
PS: I won't be able to download SP1, even if I get the Internet connection figured out, for about another week.

Re: Typing causes total crash ...

Wow, that's a nasty problem...try to uninstall from Programs and Features the things you don't need and then using a lot of patience open a document and something and copy/paste to Start=>Run "msconfig". From the startup tab try to uncheck the boxes in front of the things you know of and don't need in the startup. Restart and see if it works.
By the way...how did you managed to open this post if you can't write on your pc? kidding

Re: Typing causes total crash ...

Start your machine in safe mode.
If it works in safe mode you have a driver issue.
You can always take it back to the shop and get a refund or different computer.
