Dual boot XP & Vista - ready to go!

Ok, nearly ready to go!
I have just received my purchased OEM Vista 64bit Home Premium.
I have 2 HD's. The first HD has 2 Partitions on it with XP in residency on the primary partition. It's plugged into SATA 1.
Plugged into SATA 2 (is that right as there are another 2 SATA slots on the mobo?) is the 250GB HD that I was given from work. It has an unactivated Lenovo pre-install of Vista Business on it that I cannot delete no matter how I try (even with Partition Magic). Can I just pop the Vista DVD into the DVD drive and set the CMOS settings to boot from it and then try to install ontop of the new OEM HD? I believe the Vista install gives you the option of formatting a drive/partition? Should I try this, will it work?
Anything I should be mindful of?
