brains needed here!

okay guys i have a really quick question! why does vista load so slow for me???
here is my pc. my pc is less then 2wks old i did all the installing myself and what not.

evga 680i mobo
core 2 quad (6600)
2 9600 nvidea video cards in sli
8gigs of ram pc 6400 at 800mhz
phyisX card
1 terrabyte of hdd space
vista ultimate 64bit
850watt psu
and on start up all that is loading for me is the gargets, and steam and my logitech stuff (for my g15 keyboard and g5 mouse)

this computer has no shortage of power and what not so why does it take on average 5plus minutes to load??? all of my programs load blistering fast expect loading og vista~ everything all the parts are purchased from ncix and is brand new! and all most top of the line pc and why must i wait longer for vista then i ever did for xp???

ps i also have sp1 installed and my load times are still slow! ANY ideas would be awesome!

That'd be your Logitech Keyboard causing that issue, most likely. I have the same issue with mine, but you know what? I like this keyboard and I can live with the system starting up a bit slow in order to use my wonderful 54 programmable macro keys on it.

I've never done a sfc /scannow, so I am gonna try it.

Re: brains needed here!

did you try removing the extra 4 gigs of ram?? I bought a new pc and it had 4 gigs of ram boots to desktop fairly quickly maybe 30s at most. So I get 4 more gigs of ram and put in the machine, and it takes upwards of 5 minutes to boot to desktop . Pull the extra 4 gigs out and viola it boots to desktop in less than 30s. I dont know what it is. Definately not bad ram because the pc boots fast with either set installed just not when all 4 sticks are in. <shrug>
