| Newbie Rep Power: 4 ![]() | Please shoot me now "D:\ application not found" Forgive me if this is the wrong area to post this, I am very desperate for help. I've spent the entire day on the phone or on forums trying to find a solution. I just built a computer yesterday, windows vista home premium 64bit. I installed windows and the drivers that came with the computer components. At some point during the installing, patching, hotfixing, etc., my dvd drive stopped letting me access the discs. Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe - CD / DVD Burners I can open/close the drive, windows detects the drive. I've tried unistalling it through device manger and rebooting, no luck. I've tried a couple different things in the registry, no luck. I'm assuming some piece of software I installed changed settings/properties, but I could be completely wrong. When I double click on the drive in "my computer" I get the message, "d:\ application not found". Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have tried everything I can think of today, and I am very close to going insane. Bear |

I've seen all versions of windows show similar behavior when they have a pair of removable drives mysteriously on the same drive letter - for instance, a USB drive and a dvd-rom. It won't really hurt anything to rename the drive. Give that a whirl. Also, I assume you've tried different data cables and the like. -ltwally |
