| x32 | Vista stopped booting after update...or virus? Takes me straight to Startup Repair... Tries to fix automatically but fails.. Last Known Good config takes me straight to startup repair. | Ultimate x86 | Re: Vista stopped booting after update...or virus? If you have Vista DVD, try to boot from DVD and performed system restore or if it fails you can do manual system restore by renaming the 5 files ( system, software, config, sam and security ) to e.g, sam.old in c:\windows\system32\config. Once you renamed those file try to copy those files from c:\windows\system32\config\regback to c:\windows\system32\config. You have to do a mual system restore by booting from Vista DVD -> Repair your computer -> Command prompt. Good luck. |

| Ultimate x86 | Re: Vista stopped booting after update...or virus? No you can't rename those files until you boot from Vista DVD. Try to get the any Vista DVD from friends. |
