Change minimum space requirement for Vista Installation

Hi,

I was wondering, is it possible to change the minimum diskspace requirement for the Windows Vista Home Premium installation? I.e. Normally, Vista requires about 15GB for an installation, but my full vLite installation of Vista HP only needs a total of about 4,2 GB with a 1.3 GB pagefile included, so I want to resize my partition to about 8-10GB so I have the remaining space available for my other partitions.

Anyone a clue?

TIA

No. The minimum disk space requirements include both temp space used during installation, and the final installation space used. After that, you ned to factor in "after the fact" space, such as index catalogs, thumbnail caches and program installations, amongst others. If you are planning on only using a 8 - 10 GB partition for Windows Vista, then you're planning on increasing your blood pressure.

The smallest partition I'd recommend is 80GB, but I've installed Vista for people on drives as small as 40GB without ill effect.

I have got to agree with Peter, 80gig is really a realistic minimum, anything less is asking for trouble.

Hi,

I understand and respect your opinion on this matter, but my question really was if it is possible to change the minimum diskspace requirements. I.o.w., is/are there some setting(s) in some file(s) which can be altered so that windows ignores it's minimum requirements. Altogether regardless if it's wise to do so or not. Thereby I would like you to know, that at this moment, my Vista HP vLite install runs perfectly on 15GB.
It has only 4.2 diskspace used, 1.3 GB pagefile included. Ofcourse, in time, this size will grow, but there's not much to install on my system partition -All programs, games etc. are installed on different partitions-, so, i.m.v.h.o., i think 10 GB will be enough... but that's just something I want to figure out and that's why I asked this question.

Thanks again.

Then to answer your question again: No. The minimum space requirements for installation cannot be changed. Sorry I can't give you the answer that you are looking for.
