this might sound stupid, but help please..

I bought a new laptop with vista home premium 32, she set it up as a standard user an now it's impossible to install anything onto computer because the system is still asking for admin. password and even if we know that one (well there haven't been password set up) in that dialog box it's nowhere to write it. How we can make her account changed to administrator??
Only one way I came up with is to use recovery disk set it up differently, well not sure about that and don't fancy it much. Is there an easier way?

Hello frantaolej,
Start your machine in Safe Mode, use the link at the end of this post to install the "built-in administrator". After that, reboot to normal mode, logon to the new built-in admin account, change her standard account to admin account. This time make sure her account has a password. Keep the built-in admin. It'll come in handy--- real handy.

Hello frantaolej,
The words in blue ink " Administrator Account " is the link.

Turn on the Computer

Tap F8 Untill you see Advance Boot Options

Choose First Option Repair Your Computer

You will See a Screen which says Install Now. Towards Left Bottom you will see Repair Your Computer Link

Click on Repair Your Computer

Click on Command Prompt

when you see the Comand Prompt

Go to c:\Windows\System32

Type in " ren magnify.exe man.exe

Type in ren " cmd.exe magnify.exe "

exit and restart the Computer

When prompting Password for your Current User Account and the Botton left you can see Easy of Access Options


Click on Easy of Access

Then Check the Box for Magnifier and click on OK

you will get the Command Prompt

In the Command Prompt Enter net user net user administrator /active:yes

Restart the Computer

Click on Administrator Account

Go to Control Panel and Change the Standard Account to Administrator

restart the Computer Log in to your User Account!

Now you have Administrator rights

As its not good to have the default Administrato Account turned on

In the Command Prompt Enter net user net user administrator /active:no

And rename magnify.exe to cmd.exe in c:\windows\system32

And rename man.exe to magnify.exe in c:\windows\system32

Enjoy!
