Re: WorldWide Telescope public beta

Hi,

A very interesting program. However, there is just one thing that needs to be fixed for the final release. The shortcut icons that are placed on the desktop and start menu are the wrong ones, they are for installation and, if like me, you installed the application directly from the web, they will fail. The correct shortcut can be found by browsing to 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Research\Microsoft WorldWide Telescope'. The correct file is 'WWTExplorer.exe', and a shortcut can be created by right-clicking on this file and selecting 'Send To' and 'Desktop (create shortcut)'. This shortcut can then be copied into other locations as required. The only limitation that I can find so far is the difference in resolution when viewing the Earth - some regions can zoom in further than others, but this might well change as the databases are updated.

Re: WorldWide Telescope public beta

Hello all,

I saved it to my E:\Programs partition so when I mess something up again
and have to reinstall I won't lose track of it.
I am so glad someone gave me a heads up to save everything "away" from C:!

Thanks John.
