Startup Programs

Unexpected behaviour - How to roll back?

I did: Control panel>Performance info tools>advanced tools.

Vista comes up with a few things you can do. All ok.
But at the top page it first suggest that you have performance gains by adapting your display. Is OK to.

Then on a second line it said that programs were causing an abnormal long boot time.
I clicked: saw Nero, My anti-virus, an unknown exe file.

Note that none of these apaer in the startup programs that you can analyse via defender (and other ways) nor that they appear in my startup folder.

Vista asked me to if it was ok to remove them. I decided to give it a go for Nero but to leave the 2 other ones untouched.

So said yeas expecting a tick box with the 3 programs but no. Vista removed all 3.

Guest what - Murphy - the unknown program removal seems to block from time to time my PC (before the above the PC was stable).

I tried first a one week old restore point but also curious Vista reported errors so the restore was unsuccesfull.

Sory for the long memo
So question: how to figure out what Vista stopped?
