| Premium32 Ultimate32 Pro | Premium Repair Install I am considering a repair install for sometime in the future if I can't get the misc. issues fixed. I could do a clean install but wouldn't learn much that way. HP laptop Partition 1: Premium 32 P2: XP Pro 32 P3: Storage P4: Ultimate 32 XP Pro & Ultimate are clean installs. Premium on P1 is the manufacturer's preinstalled OS from which I have removed the bloatware, cleaned it up & installed SP1 but am left with a few quirky behaviors. sfc /scannow doesn't find any integrity violations. I have a Vista SP1 install DVD with all versions and the Upgrade/repair option is available in Premium using this DVD, I checked. I've read the tutorial but just double checking to be sure. I have everything imaged with Acronis but still wouldn't want to get into restoring the images. Questions? A repair install should only make changes to the Premium OS on P1? I may have to repair my triple boot? (I'm using EasyBCD) Any other thoughts or advice? |

| Ultimate SP1 x64 & x86 | Re: Premium Repair Install As P1 is, if i understand, OEM +SP1, there is a chance that the upgrade function will be grayed out. If it happens, deinstall sp1 before upgrading. You will have to repair the triple boot, but it is not a major problem. |

| Premium32 Ultimate32 Pro | Re: Premium Repair Install If you do your repair/upgrade install on P1, the other partitions won't be affected. As P1 is, if i understand, OEM +SP1, there is a chance that the upgrade function will be grayed out. If it happens, deinstall sp1 before upgrading. You will have to repair the triple boot, but it is not a major problem. I checked the upgrade function for P1 OEM + SP1 and it works, not greyed out. |

| Premium32 Ultimate32 Pro | Re: Premium Repair Install Premium with HP OEM bloat removed: Slow to complete the boot was one issue, seemed like it wanted to almost stop at the side bar, also after installing SP1 the snipping tool would take a very long time to start. I finally found the answer to these the other day after posting this thread. I used the configuration utility, selective startup and found that it was HP's QuickPlay causing the problems above. I reinstalled Quickplay and it fixed these two issues. There have been some quirky behaviors in addition to these problems above but I seldom use Vista, so I will have to make a list as I rediscover them. Thanks for asking. |
